Summary

Throughly enjoyable read。 Just what the mood ordered!! Strong heroine and lovable hero, well written and adventurous。 Enough outrageous situations to keep you entertained and who doesn’t love (secretly good) pirates!! Will read again if looking for an easy fun comfort read。

I really enjoyed the book, but even more our reading! This is the most strange book from Julia Quinn that I read until now。 I liked it, it was funny, enjoyable and a cute romance, but I can't tell I was amazed by the plot or the characters。 I liked Andrew, it was a fine man, intelligent and nice。 Poppy was cool to, but I didn't like her that much。 I think the plot could be more developed。 It was kinda strange because usually all of Julia Quinn's book amaze me because of the details or the characters, the dialogues or the romance itself。 I didn't find it here。 The plot was good, but was not amazing, in my opinion。 But I really loved the way it ended and all the feelings around those moments。 That was what I was expecting from the beginning of the book。 I liked the action too。 And I really loved that some moments are in Portugal。So, I have to say that I liked it, it was a good story, interesting characters, but it could be much more interesting。 。。。more

This one was fun! Unusually, it has taken us outside England (though, come to think of it, it is the second one in the Rokebys series taking place in a different country), on a sea voyage to Portugal。 Very refreshing。 I guess this one is the last of Julia Quinn read by Rosalyn Landor, which I haven´t read yet, so I might be able to finally get out of the Quinn vortex I have fallen into earlier this year。 Very enjoyable ride anyway, might have helped to keep my sanity, in a way。

I definitely liked this book better than #2 in this series。 It had that witty banter that I have come to like in Quinn's books and I liked the plot and the story line much better。 It had a lot of humor interwined in the story。 I mean, kidnapped by a handsome pirate---not so bad。 I liked the charater of Poppy and how she was constantly thinking and had a natural wonder about the world and its workings。 Great book for the pool or the beach this summer。 I definitely liked this book better than #2 in this series。 It had that witty banter that I have come to like in Quinn's books and I liked the plot and the story line much better。 It had a lot of humor interwined in the story。 I mean, kidnapped by a handsome pirate---not so bad。 I liked the charater of Poppy and how she was constantly thinking and had a natural wonder about the world and its workings。 Great book for the pool or the beach this summer。 。。。more

This is probably my favorite of the Rokesby books so far。 They’re kind of predictable, but they’re so good!

Good historical romanceJulia Quinn is good at what she does。 And for those who loved the Netflix series 'Bridgerton', I recommend you start from the very beginning, with the Rokesby saga which works as a prequel to the Bridgerton series。I have been unable to put all of these books down。 They are worth a binge。 Good historical romanceJulia Quinn is good at what she does。 And for those who loved the Netflix series 'Bridgerton', I recommend you start from the very beginning, with the Rokesby saga which works as a prequel to the Bridgerton series。I have been unable to put all of these books down。 They are worth a binge。 。。。more

Starts with a kidnapping on some rather thin pretext and excuses。 Otherwise--fun, snappy exchanges, predictable plot, and a HEA。

And Poppy with her inquisitive mind and attempts to understand engineering, astronomy, architecture, and physics, reminds me of a combination of Claire and Bree。 Sure, of course he was in the wrong for setting sail after his men kidnapped her, but last I checked this isn't a morality piece and I don't read romantic fluff for life lessons。 I read for intriguing characters and entertainment, and this delivered on both fronts。 Side note: it was also a pleasure to get a true glimpse of Billie and George at the end。 Much more than we got in Book 2。 。。。more

A real sleeper! I did not expect to like this book as much as I did。 A damsel kidnapped onto a privateer vessel? Really? The premise seemed flimsy—too “Hollywood” for my tastes—but to my surprise the characters and story kept my interest。 Poppy’s curiosity (and decidedly modern sensibility, let’s be honest) make her a fun protagonist, and Andrew has the right blend of manliness and gentlemanliness。Great sex scenes, too! ;)

Julie

I loved this one! Part of the prequel series to the Bridgertons, I loved this smart, strong young heroine, her dashing (maybe) pirate hero and the setting on a privateer ship。 Refreshing and fun!
